2014 was an extremely warm year in California and again we saw a very long growing season. Yields were pretty average across Santa Barbara County and harvest started fairly early depending where you were.
Alisos Vineyard is one of my most favorite sites and what I love the most about this special place is the unique microclimate just off HWY 101.
In 2006 I made my first wine from this exact Grenache block, which I feel is one of my best wines. Now eight years later I’m sourcing from that same block. Clone 3 Grenache that was own rooted and planted in sandy soil. This gives the wine structure and backbone. There are wonderfully fine tannins and bright beautiful aromatics. Aged in 20% new French oak for 17 months
